Seamus McGuire

"My early music background probably explains my interest in both traditional and classical music. I grew up in a strongly musical family in Sligo, an area in the Northwest of Ireland well known for its association with both musical genres. My childhood memories include playing the classical violin every Easter at the Sligo Feis Ceoil and learning traditional fiddle tunes from recordings of legendary Sligo fiddlers Michael Coleman and James Morrison. Musical boundaries were not considered all that important - good music was valued whether traditional or not."
Seamus McGuire,
from the liner notes of "The Wishing Tree" 1995

Whether it's teaching fiddle at Boton College's renowned "Gaelic Roots" event, joining his brother Manus McGuire on his award-winning CD, "Saffron and Blue"; or playing in the West Ocean String Quartet, it's clear that wherever Dr. Seamus McGuire is found, good music will be heard!
