Ed Reavy : Well, that's a neighbor of ours at home..Clerkin..they were
very nice people. The father was a politician..he and my father, they never got along
too good you know because they were on different ideas about politics you know..
Mick Moloney The Castleblarney Piper...
Ed Reavy : Well, there was a great piper in Castleblarney..in the old days
That's when I was young, I call them the old days. when I was home in '22 he was
still around and still a good piper but he's dead years now...
Eugene O'Donnell
Eugene Comes from Derry City and made his name there not only as a fiddler,
but also as a stepdancer. He was All-Ireland Stepdancing champion five consecutive
occasions - an unprecedented feat. He came to Philadelphia in 1957 and has played extensively
since then at concerts and festivals all over the Northeastern States. His extensive exposure
to Northen (particularly Donegal) fiddling styles, coupled with his formal musical training
make his own playing style extremely distinctive

Mick Moloney
Mick Moloney, who produced and recorded the material on this album, comes from
Limerick City where he was born in 1944. He took up tenor banjo when 16 and learned much
of his music in neighboring County Clare. Since 1973 Mick has been studying towards a Ph.D.
in folklore and folklife at the University of Pennsylvania

The Recording
This recording presents the music of Ed Reavy, one of the most important composers
of Irish music in this century. Since he started composing in Philadelphia in the 1930's,
his music has spread far and wide, both to other parts of America and to Ireland,
where many of his tunes have become part of the staple repertoire of most traditional musicians.
